Puebla City
Puebla City is the State Capitol that has the same name, officially known as Heroic Puebla of Zaragoza. It is known as well with the name when it was founded: Puebla de Los Angeles, because the queen of Spain wanted to name like this, because of the dream of Julian Garces. Another nick name is "Reliquary of America".
It is located the Center-South of the country, in the Central high plateau of Mexico. Latitude of 19° 3 ' North, Length 98° 12 ' the West and to an altitude of 2.125 meters over the level of the sea, in a valley located in the base of the Volcano “El Pico de Orizaba”, also known as “La Malinche”, and closely together of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes. Its surface includes 546 square kilometers.
Their economic activities are Agriculture, Commerce, Industry and Tourism. As main products emphasize textiles, the glasswork, ceramics, foods and automotive vehicles. Also a great amount of Universities is located in Puebla, placing it as one of the most important University Centers in the country, the second after Mexico city.
The Universities with greater tradition in Puebla are the Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla (Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla), founded on 1937, the University of the Americas Puebla, founded in 1940, the Independent Popular University of Puebla in 1973, and the Regional Technological Institute of Puebla, also in 1973. Later campuses arrived from other important universities in Mexico, like the Technological Institute and of Studies Superiors of Monterrey.
It is an excellence Colonial city, named by UNESCO as World Cultural Heritage in 1987. Almost all their Historical down town has buildings of Colonial architecture, as the Cathedral of Puebla, Municipal Palace, the Hall Protocols of the Government of the State, the Church of Santo Domingo, the Main Theater (Teatro Principal), the Carolino Building, owned by the University of Puebla, among many others.
According to the last census of the National Institute of Geography and Statistics (INEGI in Spanish initial letters) in 2005, Puebla city has a population of 1.399.519 inhabitants, its municipality has 1.585.941 inhabitants and its rounded zone, which includes 13 municipalities of the States of Puebla and Tlaxcala, with 2.109.049 inhabitants.
Puebla de Zaragoza is considered at the moment one of the most industrialized cities of Mexico, well communicated and the right way to get from south-east towards the north of the country, besides it has freeways and federal highways.
It occupies the fourth place in importance in the country, behind Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey. In ninths decade, it began to get in important investments from Europe and the United States of America, which promoted the installation of many companies in the region.

Historical Center
Municipal Palace is located in the heart of the city of Puebla, is the seat of City Hall. It is a beautiful colonial building dating from the late nineteenth century as we know it today, but the original building was built in the sixteenth century, and over time has been changing. It has been used as the headquarters of the city government since its building and as a city file.
Its entrance by the Portal Hidalgo and its distribution is classic colonial. A central courtyard, surrounded by the beautiful building and the staircase in the background. The rooms that surround it are linked together by wide corridors with arches and columns.
The town hall is one of the most beautiful setting for its art. Data from 1714 and the portal can be seen outside the royal charter that gives the title to the city, and the coat of arms.
